  • we're in Phoenix again! We visit Ray's parents in Phoenix every year for an extended visit. Despite the heat we always have a great time. Ray's parents brought the kids to Phoenix because I figured it'd take me 2 days to get there. I cleaned our room and hung out with the leftover family and hit the road around 11, after a quick trip to McDs to check email since I hadn't checked in 3 days. It was a beautiful day and red rocks against the blue sky was stunning. I saw storms in the distance north and south of me, but I went through the middle without a problem. I got about 5 minutes of rain, but otherwise, it was smooth driving. The GPS told me the fastest route was through Flagstaff, so I headed that way. i decided to stop there, though instead of taking the 2 hour trip south to Phoenix. Not only was I tired (more than I realized), it was Sunday evening, when everyone heads from the cool weather to the heat of the city...even moreso on 4th of July weekend! I stayed at Joey and Becky's (they were still in Raton) and got caught up on internet (well, I'm never caught up...) I have hundreds of pictures to upload to various places (facebook, flickr and ceiva).
Monday the kids went to their first day of summer school (Jessica's first time going to summer school at Rainbow Montessori). GrandDAD helped them pack their lunches and took them to carpool (drop-off). I planned to pick them up so left in time to do that. I cruised in right on time...good thing I didn't have any problems! Actually, I did. sonic took about 30 minutes to get my food! so much for fast food. the kids were ecstatic after school. They had a great day. Joshua made some parachutes out of tissues, fancy string and paperclips. Jessica did tons of metal insets, one of her all-time favorite works. We have a plastic set at home and she loves them. the incredible thing is how much better she does at that now. it was quite an improvement. I unpacked part of the van, organized and we went swimming with Nana. GrandDAD grilled steaks and veggies. We've not had all that much grilling this summer, so that was yummy! While Nana and GrandDAD went to a meeting, we watched the end of Rataouille and the first half of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I currently am back to limited internet access, so will be finding free wi-fi during the day to upload pictures, blog, and handle finances, etc. Of course, I'll check every day, but responses might be delayed.
